Sabaton is a five piece Swedish Power Metal band from Sweden. As of writing this they have released ten studio albums. Though they are Power Metal, it would be more accurate to call them History Metal. The band’s themes and subject matter deal with historical topics throughout their discography.
The band consists of Joakim Brodén giving some powerful lead vocals, Chris Rörland on guitar, Pär Sundström on bass, Thobbe Englund on guitar, and Hannes Van Dahl on drums. Each memeber really gives it their all in performance.
I was able to see the band a couple years ago when they toured with Epica. They have a great stage presence. Very friendly to the crowd too. If you’re looking to take your kids if you have any to a Metal show, I think Sabaton would be good for a first one.
I’m also a bit of a history nerd, so given the historical content of this band, they are well worth checking out. I know they’re not for everyone, but honestly, just have fun with them. They play well and their music has a good pulse to it.
