So, I’m back at Fine Line and this time I’m here to see Social Animals with Aesha Minor and Yellow Ostrich as openers. Truth be told, I wasn’t planning on going to this concert originally, but one of my friends got me up and had a few ticket, so she why not. I haven’t heard any of these bands before, but it turned out to be a nice indie concert.
Aesha Minor

This duo has the most laid back vibe the whole concert. The band consists of Austin James and Matthew Sandstedt. They are considered bedroom pop, which I had to lookup what that genre was for this review. Which I’m going to give a shoutout to Yamaha for explaining it. Bedroom Pop is somewhat of a smashup of Lo-Fi and Indie.
From my point of view, it wasn’t really something I think I’m into as a genre, however Aesha Minor did play well. If you like that kind of sound, you’ll probably find yourself enjoying their music. The band did have a good sense of stage presence and they seemed comfortable where they were. I know this isn’t what typically fits for this blog, but they were one of the openers, and for what it was, they did well.
Yellow Ostrich

Yellow Ostrich played as a duo during this concert, and they acknowledged they weren’t at a full capacity with their band memebers, but for what they had they did a great job. Alex Schaaf leads the band, but there was one other member and I apologize to the other bandmate, but I did not catch the name and couldn’t find it off my quick search.
They had a really good indie vibe to them. Timothy, was a standout song that was performed. They also played a song that was written the week prior and the crowd loved it. They also had some good stage presence, and looked really chill up on stage.
Social Animals

Now onton the headliner. Social Animals commanded the stage and each and every band memeber seemed to be enjoying themselves up on stage. They have more of a Alt or Indie style to their music and it was fun.
Soical Animals consists of Dedric Clark on vocals and rhythm guitar, Tony Petersen on lead guitar, Boyd Smith on drums, and Roger Whittet on bass. Each and every one of them looked like they were having a good time up there. Dedric was very expressive in his movements and you could feel how much the lyrics meant to him.
Some parts of the auidience were being rude by having full on conversations when they were playing. Kind of annoying. This is the second concert in a row for me where one of the band memebers went to the crapper which is a little funny.
The concert overall was a good time. I’d probably go and see Social Animals again sometime. If you’re looking for a fun Indie or Alt kind of sound, then I’d check them out.
