Ok, this is a little behind the times and the way the internet works, this is old news by now. But, I still wanted to give some thoughts on this. If you haven’t been up to speed in the film world as of late, there’s going to be another Crow movie and anothe Beetlejuice movie. I’m very skeptical.
lets crack things off with the new Crow film. Now personaly, I don’t think the movie looks terrible as a movie in and of itself. However, that doesn’t mean it’ll be a good Crow movie. Those are two different criteria.
The Crow as media is staunchly in the goth/gothic camp. And after looking at what some goth youtubers have had to say, they’re right, the actor does look more like a soundcloud rapper. Which nothing against soundcloud rappers, but that doesn’t fit how The Crow is supposed to be protrayed. The opinions I’ve been seeing are mixed to negative.
I think the film itself will be decent enough, but it won’t be memorable. No one can replace Brandon Lee.
To be honest, I have more of a connection to Beetlejuice than, The Crow. I grew up watching Beetlejuice and loved the film. Now after watching the trailer, I’m conflicted. On the one hand, I’ve wanted a sequel for years, on the other, sequels can be spotty.
I think the cast for this film is solid, but I’m worried about the script. The first Beetlejuice was perfect on it’s own. I hope this one isn’t just a rehash of what already happened. If they can tell a new story, then this one will be worth it.
Tim Burton’s work has been spotty the past few years. Don’t get me wrong, his early stuff is amazing, but recently, his work has been very hit or miss. He’s not writting or directing this as far as I can tell. I hope whatever he adds brings his old charm back to the project.
